TOS Varnsdorf
TOS' area of expertise has been, for decades, the designing and building of manual horizontal boring and milling machines (HBM). In fact there are very few choices for machine shops around the world to invest in a manual HBM outside of China. TOS was the original, and is still considered the best, HBM on the market today.
TOS has not needed to change their design for a HBM for the last 30 years. The market does not require TOS to change a winning combination of accuracy and reliability.
TOS Varnsdorf Versatility
TOS Varnsdorf can provide a new HBM or a ReTOS HBM. The ReTOS HBM will refurbish the original casting and replace every other part on the machine. The ReTOS can actually be more expensive than a new TOS Varnsdorf HBM considering the additional work and labour that is required to totally refurbish an existing HBM.
Many machine shops prefer the Re-TOS with the full warranty provided as they belive the mature casting is the better solution.
Many machinists have cut their teeth using TOS HBM that have been in service for decades. An investment in a TOS HBM will provide reliability, accuracy and flexibility to your machine shop.

ReTOS covers complete portfolio of services associated with operation of horizontal boring mills of TOS Varnsdorf a.s / RETOS VARNSDORF s.r.o. in machinery production. From the delivery of new or recycled machine, overhauls, partial or medium repairs, consultancy and customer service, up to delivery of spare parts, accessories and accompanying documentation.
Manufacture of new machines:
• conventional machines – long-term success of type W100A, taken over by mother manufacturer TOS Varnsdorf a.s. • CNC machines - novelty of the company' s own design, machine WHP10CNC, floor type boring mill of medium size, designed for machining of long weldments and casts.

• portfolio of machines covers the manufacturing programme of TOS Varnsdorf a.s. and, approximately since 1995 includes conventional and also NC or resp. CNC machines • the parameters and technological capacities of CNC machines after upgrade are comparable to those of new machines in their category • complete overhauls and upgrade are executed exclusively in the manufacturing premises of ReTOS in Varnsdorf
History
The company RETOS VARNSDORF s.r.o. has its registered office at the premises of the former manufacturer of Varnsdorf machine tools, company PLAUERT, which was founded by manufacturer Arno Plauert at the beginning of the 20th century. The manufacture of horizontal boring mills began in 1915. After World War II, one of the machine tools factory association satellites was formed from this firm, company TOS Varnsdorf. In time, the main manufacturing plant resettled to new premises, and the original premises were among others utilized for overhauls. This plant has been preserved until today, after a series of transformations. The company RETOS VARNSDORF s.r.o. was set up in March 1992, based on the aforementioned operation of overhauls of the horizontal boring mills manufacturer, a thattime state enterprise TOS Varnsdorf. It took over the programme of the centre and, at the same time, began with their own design and expansion of the portfolio of machines on which it does not perform overhauls only but also large reconstructions leading to significant upgrades. In the 17 years of its existence, the company introduced a number of successful upgraded models, some of which permanently form the bearing programme of the company for more than 10 years.
Today
he premises of the company, administration and manufacturing area is situated in the North of Bohemia at the border of Germany, at the edge of the Šluknov projection and Lužické mountains in the Varnsdorf municipality. 80 employees work in the company, and their professional structure corresponds with the strategic goals of the company, mainly the ability of our workers to satisfy individual needs of our customers, and present ideal technical solutions to them. For new designs we utilize computer technology to 100% with advanced CAD systems (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, E-plan). The technological maturity diffuses from designing process into the manufacturing process and purchase process through direct link between the CAD systems and the information system Helios Orange. This solution enables flexible reaction to special requirements of our customers, significantly shortens the time and eliminates the error rate of job order implementation. In our work we fully continue in the traditions and experiences of the 105-year existence of the mother manufacturer, and we still closely cooperate mainly in the area of manufacture. The company has more than 10-year experience with the application of quality control systems according to ISO 9001 / 14001. The management system is regularly audited and processes improved on continuous basis.

TRENS SK, a. s. is the biggest machine tools producer in Slovakia and for the long time it belongs to the most important machine tools producers in Europe.
Across its entire, recently 75 years old history, company has focused on engineering with emphasis on machine tools which are, until today, known under the brand „TOS“.
In the present company exports up to 95% of its production of universal centre lathes and CNC lathes to more than 80 countries of the world where they are known for high reliability, precision and technical level.
Company has production capabilities to cover requirements of its own production and cooperation works as well. All machine tools are being developed with focus on the up-to-date trends in CNC machine tools and customer requests. Longtime experience, investments into constant research and development and modernization of the production lead to harmonization of internal environment and inclining production effectiveness. History.
History of the company dates back to 1937, when Czech company WALTER decided to move production of aircraft engines to Slovakia. In the following decades the production program as well as use of factory buildings have changed from warehouses to overhauling works, production of agricultural and food industry machines and appliances to production of military equipment and machine tools. Milestone in the corporate history were the years 1951-1952, when the production of universal center lathes began. Since that time the company has been focusing only on the production of machine tools. Significant growth of machine tools production was recorded in 1962 when the own Research & Development department for machine tools was established. Legal form of state ownership has changed several times up to independent state factory in 1989-1992.
In 1963-1998 the company operated under the brand name TOS Trenčín. In April 1998 the change of the brand name to TRENS, a. s. was approved. Even thoughTRENS had to give up using the brand „TOS“, tradition of high quality of machine tools, their technical excellence and long lifetime remain the main priority of the company.
Since 2011 the company acts under the changed brand name TRENS SK, a.s.
